Most apps don't need more UI components. They need better interactions.
About Tessera UI, a collection of motion pieces for React Native and Expo.
The way a card responds to a gesture. How a screen transitions. How content enters, moves, expands, collapses, or disappears.
These small moments are what make an app feel polished.
Tessera UI is a collection of production-ready motion pieces for React Native and Expo. Not isolated animation experiments or showcase demos, but complete interactions, animated sections, flows, and templates designed to be used inside real applications.
Everything comes with source code, so you can understand it, change it, match it to your design system, and make it yours.
Built to be used, not just watched
A beautiful animation in a demo is easy.
Making it work inside a real product, with gestures, navigation, dynamic content, different screen sizes, performance constraints, and actual application state, is the difficult part. That's what Tessera UI focuses on.
Each piece is designed with production in mind and built using tools from the modern React Native ecosystem such as Expo, Reanimated, Skia, gestures, and native APIs whenever they make sense.
Copy it.Customize it.Break it apart.Learn from it.Ship it.
There's no black box you have to design your application around.
Why “Tessera”?
A tessera is one small tile used to build a larger mosaic. That's also how I think about product interfaces. One animation doesn't make an application great. But dozens of carefully designed interactions, transitions, gestures, cards, menus, loaders, navigation moments, and tiny details, come together to create the feeling of the entire product.
Each piece is a tessera. Your product is the mosaic.
More than a component
Tessera UI isn't meant to be another collection of buttons, inputs, and generic UI primitives. The focus is motion.
Things like interactive cards, gesture-driven experiences, animated navigation, transitions, visual effects, onboarding experiences, loaders, micro-interactions, and complete motion-driven sections. Pieces that normally take hours, sometimes days, of experimentation to get right.
The goal is to give you a strong starting point without taking away your ability to make it your own.
Designed for customization
Your app shouldn't look like everyone else's app just because you used the same library. Tessera UI gives you the implementation rather than hiding it.
Change the timing.Replace the spring.Swap the layout.Use your typography.Connect your own data.Rewrite the interaction entirely.
The piece should adapt to your product, not the other way around.
About the creator
I'm a React Native developer who spends an unreasonable amount of time experimenting with motion, interactions, graphics, and the little details that make mobile interfaces feel good.
Over the years, I kept building animations and interactions that were too useful to leave buried inside old projects. Tessera UI is where I'm turning those ideas into reusable pieces for other React Native developers.
Some are practical. Some are experimental. Some exist simply because I wanted to see how far React Native could be pushed. But every piece starts with the same idea:
Would I actually want to use this in a real app?
If the answer is yes, it belongs here.
